!! RACE POSTPONED !!

(written 21/12/24 6:10am)

Unfortunately at the time of writing this the MET Office still has a weather warning for wind in place for Sunday's race. Therefore we have taken the decision to postpone the event.

We are really disappointed and the decision has not been taken lightly (with a couple of sleepless nights), the rationale has been taken based on runner and spectator safety, our volunteers who would be required to stand out it for several hours, some runners travelling long distances and being very mindful we are just before Christmas.

Hopefully by making this early call it gives you a chance to make alternative plans for the weekend and perhaps having a blast at a local Parkrun!?

We know a lot of you were targeting the race to have a real crack at a fast time/pb, we are really sorry to disappoint.

We are hoping to find a suitable date sometime at the beginning of next year, we will work hard to get this confirmed asap (this might take us a little longer due to Christmas). Once we know about new a date, we'll be in touch with details and alternative options if you can't make this new date.

Sorry once again, we would appreciate your understanding, it's been a tricky decision but hope you can understand our rationale.

**If you friends/clubmates who were entered we'd appreciate if you could double check they have got the message as we'd hate for anyone to make a wasted trip.

  • If in the week leading up to the event very bad weather was looking likely, we would make a call on postponing the event no later than 24hours before. If we were forced to postpone, we would look for a new date either later in the year or in early 2025. Please note we would not be able to offer refunds if runners could not attend the new date, however we would attempt to accommodate them in another of our races where possible.

  • From the moment we begin to organise an event, we start to incur costs. Your entry fee is invested into the cost of staging the event - everything from barriers to toilets, from printing to safety pins, from race numbers to marketing. Organising any event requires a considerable amount of forward planning, risk and expense. Therefore we are unable to offer refunds or defer entries over to the following year..

  • We are working at ways to make our event more sustainable, here are some of the things we are implementing…

    • Race pack pick up on the day.

    • Water station using compostable cups (that we will compost ourselves).

    • We encourages participants to recycle their race bib numbers

    • We encourage runners to look at more sustainable travel, such as car sharing.
